Dear Friends,

On Sunday 29th January we celebrated our covenant service and renewed our convenant promise. This entails offering ourselves wholly to God for the purpose of God's kingdom.

The service is celebratory and solemn; celebratory because it affirms God is gracious enough to call us and equip us, and solemn because it reminds us that for God's will to be accomplished we will have to make numerous sacrifices.

For some, the words of the promise are hard - too hard.  For example the words 'Let me be employed for you, or laid aside for you' are poignant for any persons who feel unable to be as active as they once were.  But we do believe that God in Christ is with us, helping us to pray and to work for God's glory.

For others the words of the promise come easy -too easy.  Like New Year resolutions, the promises are forgotten once said or set aside when they become too difficult.  Yet we believe in a God whose coming in Jesus confronted the way the world worked.  Following his footsteps is bound to challenge and change us.

Having renewed our covenant, may each of us be able to accept God's purposes and may we daily embrace the call to love and serve God in all our life and work.

Grace and Peace
Faith
